Cell Phones in School?

Cell phones are perfectly fine, and we should have them in school. I think cell phones should be legalized in school; moreover, students should be allowed to use their cell phone anytime they want during the school day. First off, permitting cell phone use would ultimately encourage personal responsibility, something students of today's generation severely lack. Initially, teachers will say that if students are allowed to use their phones at any time during class, students will cease to pay any attention whatsoever to lessons presented in class. On the contrary, students would have extra opportunities every day to practice differentiating between work time and free time when they can talk or text. Moreover, this in turn will yield more responsible adults. Furthermore, the fact that students in a ``phone zone'' will be able to talk on their phone means additional responsibility in that they must balance the fr eedom of the phone with the burden of studies. Ask anyone- someone with two part-time jobs has to be FAR more responsible than someone with just one job; likewise, giving students the freedom to use their phones in school will only help them grow and mature into the adults we want them to be. In summation, what some people deem a contributor to irresponsibility will actually serve to develop the opposite. Secondly, teachers have cell phones. Anything teachers have, students should have. I am sick and tired of adults being treated one way and students treated another. Kids and adults should be on equal playing fields. Thirdly, cell phones could be used in the education of a student. Students need to know how to use technology, and perhaps no technology is more important than that of communication. In conclusion, cell phones are a distraction, and administrators and teachers are well within their rights to ban them from schools. Specifically, if students have cell phones in class, they will not pay as much attention to their teachers. Also, cell phones are not a necessary part of the educational process.
